Ak-5 Build on a donor FNC Receiver

Been lurking on this website for a while, and figured it is high-time I contribute.

Anyways, I'm turning my FNC into an Ak-5. I had a parts kit and a few other parts sent in from Sweden, including a C-stock. Only pieces I have left now are the gas block and safety. Most of the internals have been replaced, along with the handguard retainer, grip (not pictured), and the finish (not pictured). W E Birdsong and Associates is refinishing the rifle in a matching green for the Ak-5 series currently in service in Sweden, and I'm working with a machinist to produce a lower receiver with a SCAR bolt catch and magazine release.

    Updates will be coming soon!

Likely not, the C handguard requires a special gasblock, and is very heavy.

Nice. I would love to have a AK5d clone for my S&H sear. Please post with updates as this comes along.

Do you have any idea how rare that fnc was? Very few ever made it into this country, and it was/is about the cheapest way to get into FA.

I used to have one of the Gun South imported ones, complete with the original para folding stock.

There were ~6000 imported, but I'm content with making the changes on this one. Ak-5 is, like 96 SS, my unicorn.

It can still go FA, I just need to locate a sear first.

Bad to the bone. FNC is neat enough in my book.

I have been chipping away at the unicorn list...FNC and HAC-7 are still on it.
