    New purchase ideas

I'm in the market for a new rifle. I've got a DD M4A1, V3, and V5. I'm looking for something a little different and I've narrowed it down to two choices: a BCM Jack carbine and a DDMk18 pistol (while I wait for the BATFE paperwork).

I like the Jack because I don't have a keymod rail and cerakote finish. I like the MK18 because of the shorter barrel.

Anyone have any thoughts? This will probably be the last purchase in a long time so I want to make it count.

What is the stated purpose of the new purchase?

Of the two mentioned, I'd probably be happier with the Jack. Not about me though...... Get what you like / want best. Good luck!!

Just for the range. I'll be taking a carbine class toward the end of the year. Nothing exciting unless the world ends.

Skip Jack (or sell off less used rifle) and get suppressor for MK18.
ETA: kinda pricy but still put it out there.

I think you're pretty covered on 14.5-16" rifles. I'd go SBR.

What will the Jack do that your DD won't? Go with the Mk18. And throw a can on it.

The Jack has a keymod rail? Not the ones I've seen.

I've got 14.5 carbine but I was wondering if the 14.5 middy would be any different. The Jack has a type of modular rail. I guess keymod isn't the right term.

Has anyone had any issues putting a stabilizing brace on the MK18? Cause for a while that's how I'll use it. I have heard it won't fit the pistol receiver extension on the MK18.

MK18 doesn't have a pistol receiver extension. It should be a standard carbine RE.

Either way I'd skip the DD MK18, given all I've seen of them being overgassed. Overgassing may not be a big deal in the short term, but if you ever decide to buy a suppressor it will become more problematic.

I registered a lower I already had on a Form 1 and bought a factory BCM upper. I would recommend you do something similar. Either register an existing lower or buy a new one to register. Then get a short barreled upper from BCM with whatever rail you want on it.
