    Receiver Extension Rotates

    Hello all,

I'm not sure if this is an issue or not but my RE rotates about 1/8 inch. It won't move any more than that but my buddies' rifles' REs don't move at all. The castle nut does not move with the RE. Is this normal or is this something I need to get fixed? The rifle is a BCM.

That is not normal. It sounds as if the lug on the end plate was sheared off, out of spec, or damaged in some way. Does the castle nut move at all?

Sounds like it wasn't torqued properly before it was staked, etc.. I also wouldn't be surprised of the threads got damaged previously and now that area is stripped.

If it was a complete lower, I'd send it in to get fixed. If you or someone e else built it, torque it correctly and stake.

Uhhh... no. You're way off there. He's talking about the receiver extension and castle nut, not the barrel nut.

OP, if your lower is factory assembled, then BCM will likely fix it for you if you contact their customer service. The castle nut will be staked to the receiver end plate if factory assembled.

It sounds like the castle nut is staked, but not torqued against the receiver. This creates a long threaded hole for the buffer tube threads to spin in. It is probably only being limited to 1/8" by the buffer detent inside the lower. I would fix before shooting again.

Thanks for the help everyone. I tried emailing Bravo Company last night but it said my server was blocked by the domain. I have no idea what that means but it appears to have sent now. The lower is a factory BCM and the castle nut does not move.

Contact BCM directly and advise them of the issue.
