    Define: AR-15 and M4

When is an AR-15 a M4 or are they the same? I though a M4 just had the auto-fire feature to make it a M4.

Now if we could get everyone to quit using the terms A1, A2, A3, and A4 to things that have nothing to do M16s or M4s.

It's military nomenclature and has nothing to do with any commercially available AR unless you're trying to build a clone.

That sounds like a pet peeve there!

Isn't that a common frame of reference though? 'I want an A1 front sight post' is simpler than saying 'I want a round front sight post that has five notch things in for adjustment instead of four.' Wouldn't you agree?

Plus you have the all cool operator/gun guy thing going - 'I prefer the A4 carrying handle to the A3' 'Why?' 'Well, the Corps trains riflemen....'

Man, you want to take all the fun out of it.
