    Subsonic 223 Ammo?

Hey everyone! I am new to this forum and don't have anyone that I can really go to for gun advice. I was wondering if there was subsonic ammo (.223) for an M4 carbine type rifle that would reliably cycle the ammo? I know that the 300 blackout is out there, but it seems that rifle would be cumbersome due to the length in closed quarters. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

    Thanks!

How would a 300 Blackout rifle be more cumbersome than a 5.56 rifle? They use the same receivers, same magazines, same everything but barrel (and ammo of course).

I'm not aware of any subsonic 5.56 rounds. 77gr is the heaviest that I tend to see available for ARs and at 5.56 pressures is >2600fps out of a 14.5" barrel (just looking at a thread in the ammo section). There's no way you'll have a functional rifle when dropping velocity by more than half.

I'd suggest doing a little more research on a 300 Blackout gun. The only external difference vs 5.56 is bore diameter at the muzzle. The easy way is to just buy an upper that you like and toss it on your current lower, it won't be any bulkier than your current setup.

I have only seen single shot 223 sub sonic ammo. Actually I have never seen the ammo but read about it, I think Beck makes a round of this nature, Allegience Ammunition also has an offering but I have no knowledge of them. I recently got a PWS MK109 300 blk upper and married it up with my SBR lower & Saker, I am really digging the setup. I'd say just go 300, def not any hindrance. The length is barrel length is 9.5. I'd have no issues with a 16 inch 300blk also.
