9mm AR rail & suppresso combo for the kids

Hey all, I need some help. I have a colt pattern DDLES 9mm AR with a tax stamp on it. I'm looking to put a suppressor on it, but I would like it to fit under the rail to minimize the chance of someone burning their hand. Any ideas? I currently have an NSR on it, but being that it is so skinny I doubt I will find a can to fit under it. Or am I wrong?

Seekins BAR rail has a 1.8" inside diameter.

    I have a 5.5" barrel and a 9" rail.

What type of suppressor are you running under it? Does the suppressor affect recoil much?

While putting the silencer under the rail will prevent the shooter from being burned by the device directly, the proximity of the rail to the can and the heat transfer between them will cause the rail to become too hot to hold very quickly. While it isn't as bad as touching the can directly, it will suck just that much more.

Couple that with the fact that it may hinder your ability to thread the can on (or remove the can in the event the can unscrews from the mount instead of the barrel), you lose the ability to run the gun unsuppressed without one of those ridiculous (and fad-worthy) "flash cans", come close enough to the rail that it could affect the free float of the barrel, and if the can were to fail catastrophically it could place a bullet real close to where your support hand is... you have to ask yourself if the cool "SD" look is worth it to you.

If you're still into it, look into Odin Works, Aero Precision, and there are a couple company making "BAR" pattern rails. Most of these have 1.8" ID's.

Now if it were me, I'd run a handguard shorter than the barrel plus a suppressor wrap. Not as cool looking but a bit more practical and versatile.

It's an AAC Tirant 9. I don't have a heat issue with the 9mm AR. I would not run a 5.56 AR with the muzzle or suppressor under a rail.
