Agreed. Grendel is cool from an AR, particularly at distances > 500y. For a bolt gun a 223 will prove very satisfactory and will be fun to shoot. If you ever decide to get into reloading you'll reap the rewards there too as brass can be had a very reasonable cost and you'll use less powder. I'm getting extremely good accuracy using bulk, once fired, LC brass at $80 per 1000 cases and I'll get 10x+ uses from each case.

Also, how are the Howas? Got a lead on a 24" HB in 6.5 CM in an XLR chassis.

Our local gunshop has a factory 6.5 creed on the counter. It's a Ruger, not sure how you feel about that. Price is 1100 I think.

Yeah, the whole internet is going batshit for the Ruger, and I'm seriously considering one. Lowlight endorses them highly, but I'm just apprehensive with such a new platform, and honestly it being a Ruger (insert recall joke here).

That's a little on the high side, you can probably search around and find one cheaper. People are finding them around 925-950.

There's an extensive thread about the Ruger over on SH, and from most accounts it sounds like a good rifle. There are a few reports of groups opening up under extended strings, but that's about it.

Rem 700 5r 308. This was at 600 yds, 18 mph 1/4 value 98f 5 shots. Will never happen again, but happened once. 175gr smk varget win case br2. I'd suggest to anyone on a budget to get a 5r they are well with the money.
