what pistol grip to purchase

Grips are cheap enough, just buy what looks good, try it and if you don't like it, sell it/toss it in parts bin/give it away and try the next one. I've been happy with my Umbrella and haven't felt the need to try anything else lately, but if I did the BCM Mod 3 or the Magpul K2+ would be the next I'd try.

BCM Mod 3 here as well .

Initially one just happened to come on a BCM lower that I ordered
from G & R Tactical . I expected to eventually switch it out .

After trying it out -I prefer the different angle .
To the point that one by one my other ARs are being switched over .

This is along the lines of what underwear do you prefer? Tighty-whities, bikini, boxers or none? Silk or cotton? We can't know what grip you will like. I have mostly BCM grips, with a few Magpul's, and a B5. You probably need to buy what YOU THINK is good and then test it.

This. Obviously. Try before you buy if you can. I'm not very picky when it comes to pistol grips though.

I like the BCM Mod 3.

I cut off the gapper part and file it to fit. I have three of 'em and they all required some fitting to not rock on the lower when installed.

I've tried the A1, A2, Ergo ambidextrous, BCM Mod 3, and the Magpul K2.

I have size large hands and found the A1 and A2 allow me to put way too much finger on the trigger. The K2 and Ergo allow me to put the right amount of finger on the trigger. The Mod 3 seems to be in between these two groups, allowing slightly too much finger on the trigger face.

I like to run my stocks very short (about 11" LOP or so), so I prefer the more vertical grip of the K2 and Mod 3, rather than the conventional angle of the A1, A2 and Ergo. If I ran them at 12" LOP or longer, the conventional angle would be okay.

Because the Mod 3 is rounded, I have trouble finding quickly, and staying in, just the right spot on the grip. The arch in the back of the K2 and its less rounded shape allow my hand to quickly find just the right position and to stay there.

All this has led to my current preference being the K2.
