First AR - BCM Mid Length Upper and Spike's Lower. Thoughts?

Hello. I''m fairly new to the world of AR's and have been researching for months about which one to get. My research has led me here. Most other forums I visit point me to low cost AR's of questionable quality such as Del-Ton and DPMS. I'm not looking for a safe queen. I want a quality, durable weapon to use it in 3 gun competitions.

This is the upper I'm thinking of:

    This is the lower:

My budget is $1,500. What do the people here think of this combo? Are there any better rifles for a similar cost? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would look at G&R Tactical (sponsor on here) and select one of their BCM complete rifles personally. What you have picked out is fine, I just like my lower to match the rest of my gun. Grant will take care if you.

    Agreed^^^

Or just buy a complete BCM lower for $299:

Get a kick ass BCM upper with CH/BCG deal, and then you have $500 for optic, ammo, magazines etc.

This lower from Grant and pick the trigger you want. http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin...WR-BCM-BLEM-WG I would look at other BCM upper options. I am not a fan of quad rails. If your serious about 3G maybe an 18" SS barrel under a 15" KMR. If just casual competition maybe a 16" ELW barrel with the 15" KMR.

Spikes is frowned upon here a lot. Not necessarily because of their quality but more because of their shady business practices.

That lower you chose is pretty expensive. G&R Tactical will get you a BCM lower with a good trigger for that money. The upper you chose is fantastic. Though will be a bit heavier than newer rail designs. If you want the heavier weight then thats a great option. However newer rail designs like the BCM KMR or even other rails from Daniel Defense would lighten the front of the gun up a good bit.

I've mated quite a few bcm uppers with complete spikes lowers. They all fit very well together and ran with no issues.

But given how cheap prices are these days, you could easily do a complete BCM for around the same price.

Most people have no issues with Spikes but there are enough that I have to wonder why people still gamble on them. I think may just like their roll marks, which I find tacky.

What you don't like dueling penises on your gun?

And thank you for saving me the typing, since this sums up the general response I give in regards to the dicklike you will see with spike's products. Though you think it is bad with Spikes, ask about Troy. Or better yet, save the headache and just search it.

Be careful all who are about to Google the spikes dueling dicks - made the mistake 4 years ago and that is still all I see when I look at the logo.
