    Probably too late, but they would have been better off designing the M9A3 with a removable backstrap in either the Vertec or normal shape.

    [QUOTE=Apec;2185137]Seeing a few more pre-orders out there for $948.QUOTE]

    Although I think the M9A3 is a neat pistol that I would like to own, at that price I predict the M9A3 will be a niche gun with very limited sales. IMO their is no reason why the M9A3 should not be selling for the $650-$700 range tops. I know it has a rail, night sights, FDE finish, and different grips but those all told probably represent a $100 increase in manufacturing cost over a regular 92FS or 92G both of which can be found for the low $500 range. The $1000 handgun market is a pretty limited market size which is already saturated with choices.

    FWIW, CZ SP-01 is probably the closest competitor to the M9A3 conceptually and it regularly sells for around $650.

    There's always a premium on new stuff. I remember people paying above $1200-1500 for Kel-tec KSGs not long after they hit the market and were in short supply. KEL-TECs, of all guns.

    Either way, it doesn't look good for Beretta, having severely underestimated their costs to bring it to market. At that price, I would just spend the extra for a Wilson 92G.

    Remember the Wilson has the Brigadier slide, which is incompatible with most M9/92FS holsters. The M9A3 has the Vertec slide which is supposed to be compatible with standard 92 series holsters.

    You've probably seen this on other gun forums by now, but Beretta announced that they are shipping.

    Personally, I will wait for prices to come down, or if they sell slides only as an option. I'd stick the slide on a non-vertec frame.

    Cheapest I've seen so far is $998. If you value the Vertec frame, user convertible from FS to G, beveled magwell, dovetailed slide w/ night sights, and threaded barrel it's actually a pretty good price. That said, the prices will come down in time, but I don't think they'll get much cheaper than $899ish.

    No reason it should cost that much. I would like to own one, but not for what they're asking.
