Does anyone make a reliable +2 mag extension for 1911?

Looking if anyone make a reliable +2 mag extension for 1911 mags. I have a few extra springfield 7 rounders I would not mind extending.

Why not purchase a Springfield Armory 10 round magazine? They are available on the SA website store and can be found elsewhere.

I don't see anyone designing such a product and still be cost effective, given the price of 10-round extended mags already on the market.

    Look at your 7-round mags.
Most of the time, the bottoms are welded on; or they have inwardly curved lips which the base-pad slides onto.

The Tripp Research Cobra Mag at least has slots, but the design would still need to be reliable enough to allow dropping or other rough handling without popping off. What would need to slide into those slots should also not protrude into the mag and interfere with the spring & follower within.

Have not seen any kind of conversion for what you are asking.
Sell the 7 rounders and buy some of the 10 rounders that have already been mentioned.

I would keep the 7's and buy some Wilson 8's.

Even if you increased the "tube" length via mag extension, you'd need a more powerful spring.

As an FYI - When you buy them for GLOCK mags they come with the new spring

My 1911 gun smith only test fires guns with Colt 7 round mags. There is a fair amount of old school guys, wise ones, that consider the 7 round the gold standard.

Good idea to hang onto those for future testing. If needed.
