Federal Fusion MSR - shoots like bananas in my M4 Carbine

I bought some Federal Fusion MSR to put through my Colt M4, and I can't get this stuff to group less than 5 MOA. At 300 yards some of my shots are off the paper! (the paper is 24x24")

Has anyone else ran into this? I shoot about 3 MOA with this rifle and WOLF Gold. Unfortunately, I did not have another AR with me today to see if it was my rifle or the ammo.

I'm just very disappointed as I wanted to take it hog hunting but 5 MOA is the difference between a lung shot and a gut shot. Does anyone have any other ammo that works for medium sized game that they like?

When I hear hogs, the first thing I think of is 70gr TSX.
Skypup has a huge thread on it in the hunting forum.

As said, 70 gr tsx is reported good. I'd be comfortable with another bonded barrier blind load, I think nose makes some.

I was getting about 2moa the other day with fusion. I'll be going out again this weekend and will post up an update. 14.5" centurion barrel.

Shoots around 2" at 100 for me.

Some barrels just don't like some rounds, bro.

I have also seen 62gr fusion group around 2" at 100 yards. Barrel is a 16" 1/8 twist.

I just ran some Federal 223 Fusion 62gr thru my Colt M4 LE6920. 16" barrel 1/7 twist, did just under 1" at 100 yds.

    Also tried Barnes 70gr TSX, 1 1/2"

    Barnes 62gr TSX, 3/4"

However, Winchester 64gr Hog Special Clover leaf @ 100 yds.

I rather Barnes TSX or Hornady GMX for overall performance. Just wish Hornady offered something heavier than 55gr in 223.

Federal 62 Grain Fusion vs Federal 62 Grain Fusion MSR vs Speer LE 62 Grain Gold Dot

The muzzle velocities shown in the tables below were obtained back-to-back during the same chronograph session using recent lots of all three of the Fusion/Gold Dot loads chrongographed.

    Atmospheric Conditions

Temperature: 73 degrees F (plus or minus one degree)
Barometric Pressure: 29.68 inches of Hg
    Humidity: 62%
Altitude: 950 feet above sea level

Muzzle velocities from a 20” Colt M16A2 barrel with a NATO chamber, chrome lining and a 1:7” twist.

Muzzle velocities from a 14.5 Noveske N4 light barrel with a NATO chamber, chrome lining and a 1:7’ twist.

10-shot groups fired from one of my precision AR-15s with a Lothar-Walther barrel with a 223 Wylde chamber and a 1:8” twist. The groups were fired from the bench at a distance of 100 yards with the same sight settings on the scope for each of the three groups.

It just happens some times. I had an armalite m15 ten years ago that shot 5 moa with black hills red box.

Same gun shot .4 moa with walmart federal 50hp bulk packs. Total freak of nature.

This is a little concerning. Same gun, same ammo, 1 MOA?

I'm going to get a few different types of ammo before I start tinkering, but I hope my ACOG isn't broken?
