Will a folded Troy BUIS obstruct a DBAL I2?

I want to get a DBAL and mount it behind the folded Troy front sight and want to know if the beams will clear the front sight. I have a few reasons for doing it this way.

I don't want to do a tape switch, and this puts the activation button in a good position for my thumb to reach it.

I run a KMR rail and don't want to put it on the side due to added parts.

I'm worried about the IR beam reflecting off of the front sight and causing eye damage.

    Anything I should worry about?

    The I2 is eye safe.

You won't have any problems with it at 12 o clock and a folded BUIS.

Yes, thank you Ryno. That helped. Looks like a go.

GTF, I'm just so used to the PEQ series and every piece of training I've ever attended for it said "If it reflects off any part of your gun, you will go blind, and then you will die." I'm glad to see that I'm good to go.

What about a PEQ15 and a troy folding BUIS?

Your training should have stated "...you risk the possibility of retinal damage as a result of ocular exposure to reflected energy inside the NOHD; side-effects include spontaneous gender reassignment and a loss of the ability to pronounce the letter 'M'."

Clearly, some senior SNCO dicked with the NET POI... [outrage] "I see NO mention of glo-belts in regard to laser safety risk mitigation!!" [/outrage]

Your concern is the rail interface of the Troy. If all is as it should be, the PEQ apertures'll clear, though you'll have a similar kind of standoff as you see with the DBAL above. In case it needs to be said, do what you can to keep the PEQ as close to the sight as you can. If you use the IR illuminator, keep the neutral density cap on it (i.e., not the shape/pattern filters) to keep that laser's emissions to eye-safe levels, or keep it adjusted tight/narrow enough to prevent any splash.

Bear in mind, if you're using NODs to make that adjustment, you're not directly viewing any splash you might get, you're viewing a machine's interpretation of what it's sensing. If monocular, close the off eye. If binocular, you've little to worry about.

Is it queer or break a commandment to covet another man's sense of humor?

I put my front Troy BUIS on backwards in front of my DBAL, so that it will fold forward. Reason being is that that way, I can change the battery in the DBAL without having to remove the unit from the rail.

I only use Troy flip sights and have used them with both a DBAL and PEQ15. No issues at all with either the HK or M4 Style.

You should not have any issues.
