Blast, I'd failed to notice that in the -C's product descriptions, before.

"...reaches 150 yards..." I see what you did there, wordsmiths.

You're probably better off with the DBAL-D2, even though it's big and heavy. The LED IR illuminator is actually usable at distance on that unit.
Glad I read this as I just picked up a PEQ 2 for a song.

The PEQ-2 should serve you well. Don't bother with the LBS and grid paper when you zero it. If you have a NV compatible RDS, mount your NOD behind it and co-align the laser with the RDS. Should get you very close, but always confirm zero by firing a few rounds and make adjustments as needed.

Is there a final concensus on the C or the A3s illuminator?

The DBAL I2 Has the same illuminator as the A3 and is only $780. I like the PEQ but for $500 less I can like the DBAL more. With that said I still need at least 200 yards of illum

I think you mean the D2. Not the I2. The I2 is vis and IR laser only

Ah, I see the confusion. We're actually both right! There's two models:

Steiner DBAL-I² Class 1 / 3R IR Single Spectrum Laser
Steiner DBAL-I² Class 1 IR Laser

Glad that's out of the way...

Soooo...how is the IR illum? According to TNVC the A3 and I2 have the same illuminator.
