Question EOTech - Any difference in reticle at all between the older 512 and the new XPS 2.0?

So I am looking to buy an EOTech sight but am curious about the 512 vs. the XPS 2.0 when it comes to the reticle.

I know the body is of course shorter due to battery compartment etc.

But other then that what are the other advantages over the two?

One thing I am curious about is the reticle ... is it any clearer and less pixelated in the new XPS series at all or does it still look exactly the same???

I am looking to buy a used 512 for $250 which I know is a good deal (manufactured in 2011) ... but wanting to know if there is anything that I should know about the XPS that would be worth the couple hundred more at all?

Thanks so much for the help and information

I have a 512 and two EXPS3 models. The reticle is identical in all of them. Just pick the batteries you'd rather use. The XPS is mildly lighter fwiw.

I tried an older 512 (i guess) EO the other day. The thing I hated was the wind and elevation adjustments lacked the crispness of the XP.

Okay so the reticle is in no way different between the models then.

That is really all I would consider spending more money on.

I am using the 512 now and the battery compartment length is fine.

And for $250 I do not see the need if there is no upgrade in reticle clarity etc. to spend the couple hundred more on an XPS model.

These are great sights but damn they are pricey

No diff in reticle that I could notice. And the clarity is generally a shooter eyesight issue. I know it took me a bit to get used to the reticle with my eyesight. But I loved it after some time on it.

Ya I really dig this reticle on the EOTech for CQB drills ... It's even okay at the 50+ yards shooting mark as well.

I've got a buddy who will sell me his 512 for $250 but wanted to find out if there was any benefit other then the battery compartment over the new er XPS that would constitute the extra few hundred bucks you know.

They need to add more 123 batteries to increase the runtime. The XPS model has 1/2 the runtime of 512, because one CR123A has half the capacity of 2xAA Lithiums cells. Do the math.

They need to stack at least 2x123 or maybe even 3x123 or 4x123 to make the runtime more competitive. Luckly, 123 is so compact they are easy to stack side by side.
