    Don't forget 3 months of toilet paper and drinking water for 5 adults and 2 children. How much water do you need to store to be able to re-hydrate that much food?

    Why such high sodium. Is it for "taste" or does it help increase the storage life of the food?

    I would guess it is because it is survival food and traditionally people will be much more physically active and need more salt. Just my guess.

    In my experience, MH was made for backpackers and thus the higher sodium content.
    Been using MH for more than 30 yrs.
