Dedicated suppressed upper/potential hazard/suppressor blowout question

got an omega on the way and am planning on a direct thread dedicated 300bo upper. i am wanting to do a cool guy under the hand guard setup, possibly 10 or 12 inch rail over an 8" barrel + the 6" omega.

i have personally been lucky to only experience end cap strikes on my 9mm and dont know what to expect in a worst case scenario. i am worried that the potential hazard of a suppressor flying off down range and blowing my hand apart offsets the cool factor and railestate advantage. any links to threads or stories of cans going flying and particularly, grenading are appreciated.

while im at it, what would you suggest for securing attachment? i am thinking rockset is too much and would certainly damage the omega upon removal? any magic loktite suggestions or just good ol' torque? i will be sure to ask this question from sico and post the recommendation, but i know you guys are doing direct threads.

ps. anyone know the required clearance for keymod inside the rail?

thanks for the quick reply, not sure if you were there or not. do you know if the shooter had his hand at the gas block or slightly behind? it looks like he was not holding directly over the can. glad he is ok! i can only imagine it would have really mangled his hand. i see it was a 7.5 556, baffle strike?

I was there. Had his hand right behind the gas block. Had red, painful fingers. Was lucky he wasn't doing the Chris Costa thing grip

hmm this is a video of a 22lr suppressor on a full auto 556, looks like a 16". blow up at 1:09. i cant imagine holding on to a grenade would be much better!

my searching has not come up with much, the 2 catastrophic failures i find are both kestrals. seems like quality is everything and probably, mostly safe with a quality unit like sico. still wondering what would happen to my hand if it simply screwed loose and went flying sans explosion.

Here is the deal. It's not about the quality of the can. It's about what happens if something fails catastrophically. I would agree, advanced armament Corp can is unlikely to fail catastrophically. Although there is a video of an m4 1000 with a bullet coming out the side

The trend toward minimum wage minimum material suppressor design such as the Omega and the harvester lead me to speculate that catastrophic failures are more likely in the future
