    Scaled target question.

    I like to dry fire at this target:

    If I were to stand at 8 yards for my dry fire practice, what would that do to my "target size"? Would it become the equivalent of 4" plates at the same distance? Simply put, I'm trying to work on my dry firing in this or a similiar format but at further distances such as 8" plate out to 50 yards for pistol and out to 100 or 200 yards for carbine. If anyone knows of better targets for that, I'm all ears.

    Your target size would appear to be half. Double the distances indicated on the circles, i.e. 7 yards becomes 14 yards, 25 yards becomes 50 yards, etc. when standing 8 yards away. To simulate a 100 yard target stand 16 yards from the paper and aim at the circle with 25 printed on it.

    Using this article: http://thecmp.org/making-dry-firing-targets/

    At 4 yards the circles should be this size to replicate an 8 inch plate at the following ranges:

    7yd = 4.57in
    10yd = 3.20in
    15yd = 2.13in
    25yd = 1.28in
    50yd = .64in
    100yd = .32in
    200yd = .16in

    8" Plate @ 50 yards = 1.28" circle @ 8 yards.

    go here and click ANGLE. http://www.1728.org/angsize.htm

    Enter size and distances in INCHES ex. 8" plate... 1,800 inches = 50 yards (original distance).
    CALCULATE -- write that number down.

    Now click SIZE
    put in the angle you just got.
    put in 8 yards as INCHES 288 ( practice distance )
    CALCULATE

    Do that for whatever you want to simulate.
