    A year in the making....

So a little over a year in the making and several configurations later and I am finally ready to call this one a wrap. First let me just say hello to everyone as this is my first real post to the site. The site has been a great source of information and a wealth of knowledge so thank you to all for that and hopefully I can be a contributor and assist where possible. Ok, enough of that now onto the build. Back in 2005 I purchased a factory Stag 15 and that is how the present rifle started life. I added a rail and some accessories and when it just came down to it, it was an ok rifle. Not great, not terrible, just ok. So, for reasons that I care not to discuss and to keep my BP down, this became my only rifle and I wouldn't have a chance to get/build another. So I decided, this being the case, it was time for an overhaul. So I stripped the lower and used that as my starting point and went from there. I went through a lot of parts and figured out what worked for me and what didn't and this is where I landed. There was a little bit of extra money spent in the lower on lightweight parts from v7, reason for that was I knew there would be some extra weight added in areas where I could have went lighter but chose not to for one reason or another, so I decided to save the oz's where I could and since I only had 1 shot and price wasn't an issue I went all in. I did as much research as I could do and in most cases narrowed most parts down to two or three and usually bought those and what was most ergonomic for me and fit me best stayed and the others went. My primary focus for my parts was quality and function. Above all this rifle had to shoot and be reliable. I wanted to create as low of a margin for error as possible. In reality, failures will happen and usually at the most inopportune time, but trying to incorporate as many proven parts into one package will at least minimize the likelihood. As of now the only question mark in this build is the Lantac E-BCG. I found it used with a low round count and for a good price so I figured I would give it a try. I have a BCM full auto BCG on standby incase any issues arise. I like some of the thought that went into the Lantac. The quality of it is top notch and going off that alone it should perform well. I'm not crazy about the nickel boron coating but it isn't enough of a drawback to not give it a try. As for everything else on the list, they are all pretty proven parts and the quality on all is second to none. So time will tell but I am happy with it as it sits. I hope to get to the range in the next week or so to zero and see how it performs. Here are the spec's,

All that excellent reading and I can't see the pics! I'll have to log in through my laptop instead of my phone.
As for the Lantac e-bcg, I got one recently on a whim and ran 200 flawless rounds with it on a never fired rifle I built. I found it to function exceptionally AND live up to its advertised heat transfer abilities. After 200 rounds in a half an hour I removed the bolt and within 5 minutes was able to handle it normally. Probably sooner than that. It cools VERY fast.

Awesome build! Welcome to the posting side of M4C, i can see you're off to a great start contribution wise. I like the build quite a bit, the duo-tone is a bit heavy on the contrast side, but it adds detail to it.

Hello everyone and thank you greatly for the feedback, it is much appreciated! Ok, so I want to make sure I get to everyone individually...

Jeremy.tankersley - That's great news about the Lantac. Heat dissipation was definitely one of the features I like about the bcg. The other that kind of intrigued me was the smooth cam and the forward facing gas ports. I'm currently undecided as to whether I will be going suppressed or not, however if I do the forward facing gas ports seem like an added benefit. From all the research I did, which there wasn't much out there for this product yet, it seems to be a performer. Only time will tell for sure but It's awesome to hear you're having a great run with it so far! Please feel free to update if you encounter any issues.

HeruMew - Thanks man!! As for the dual tone, I originally wanted to camo the rifle when I was finished with the build but I get extremely OCD about paint chipping and wearing. Not really of concern on a work horse, however, the car guy in me bleeds through. I definitely wanted to break up the black bc black rifles for me, while they will always hold a place, get boring after a while. I wasn't sure what the final outcome was going to be on the Cerakote but I'm happy with the outcome. If I know myself well enough, I'm sure the krylon will come back out down the road....haha.

    Halln - Thanks man!!

Masan - Thanks! I am a definite fan of it myself. I didn't want to do FDE bc it's too overdone these days, but, I did want a tan earth color. I can across the color on a build thread and really liked it. It kind of changes hue in pictures but when you see it in person it resembles wet cement.

Kenneth - Sorry about that. I have been having issues with photobucket lately when I try to post pictures to threads. If you click the links it should take you to my photobucket where you can see them all.

So this week is looking crazy, and unfortunately so is the weekend so I probably won't get to the range until next weekend. As soon as I do I will updated with a range report!
