I would go with a Magpul CTR or the LMT SOPMOD like you were thinking. The ACE isn't bad but you are right, it does belong on a longer rifle. I have no complaints with my CTR's.

I don't know of anyone in NH to help you with the gas block. If you were here in Texas that would be a different story though. Its amazing that you can get high quality work in trade for a good steak and a case of beer after the build is done.

Add a DD lite rail and you have a big winner. I like the stock just the way it is. Nice build.

I agree, that ACE stock just does not fit. Get an LMT sopmod or command arms storage model and give yourself some room for batteries or spare parts and the rubber but pads help keep the weapon shouldered as well.

CTR is my fav stock, and your rifle is looking good thus far
