    That looks like a killer setup! I'm looking forward do updates when the barrel arrives.

    I upgraded a WOA barreled SPR clone upper with a URX4 over the summer and it's been a joy to shoot. You're going to enjoy that gun.

    It's great to see this coming together, and I can't wait to see how it does after you have the final parts and have had a chance to shoot it. I've been itching to build something similar myself (except in 6.5 Grendel).

    One question, why did you opt for the 0 MOA Bobro mount instead of the 20 MOA?

    Good question. The scope, in theory, has just enough elevation to get me to 1000 yards, which is the furthest I could ever possibly see myself shooting this thing. The reason for not going 20 MOA is when throwing a flat NV or thermal clip on unit in front of a canted optic it may (jury is still out) cause POI issues. The TMKs are showing 40.50 MOA come up at 1000 yards. The scope has 90 MOA of adjustment It's going to be very close, but this wasn't meant to be a 1000 yard gun anyway and I'd rather eliminate any NV issues.

    This is what I did and this is what it cost me. The scope was extra for $200 and about $69 for the rings (can get less expensive to keep under $1500).

    http://forum.gon.com/showthread.php?...ight=woa+upper ( SCROLL DOWN TO POST #7 )

    Scope is a Bushnell AR/223 with 4.5-18x40mm. Rings are Warne QD Ultra High Aluminum.

    (223/5.56)

    Lower = $450
    Geissele SSA-E trigger = $230
    WOA 18" 1 in 7" twist Varmint upper = $610
    Fluting by WOA $100
    Shipping = $18
    =========================
    Total = $ 1408.

    PS: See photo in Post #7 > First 100 yd. 5 shot target with Sierra 65 grain Game Kings. 69 grain Match Kings shoot 3/8" groups.

    I was wondering why you were getting so much drift with your 20" .308 as .308 typically drifts less than .223 with comparable bullets (not including something like the Berger 90 VLD). I played around with the numbers to see what your muzzle velocity was, I estimated around 2440 fps. With that and Sierra's G1 BC on the 175 SMK (.485-.505 but mostly .496) and your wind assumptions of 2 mph @ 120 degrees and atmospherics, I got roughly 6.2 inches of drift whereas you got almost 9.5".

    That explains so much...

    My calc had a BC ~.420 for some reason. All other variables the same this brings my wind to 5.57" - just a hair under the 223 TMKs.

    Euro D., so you bought new dies-- what brand and style? I've treated myself to some reloading bench upgrades lately and been diggin' on the Forster brand. Was shopping for a new set of .223 dies while doing a reloading bench re-org and ran across my old Bonanza dies in .17/.223, and how fine they are. That cinched it, Bonanza is a part of Forster so I got the dies and as I have reloading setup in two locations, got their benchrest powder measure for location #2. Unfortunately Midway now shows it as discontinued.

    I went with an RCBS Small Base sizing die. I debated on getting the Redding, but cheaped out.

    Lyman M-Die for neck expanding, and a Redding seater die.

    Paint is finished. Seems I'm never "happy" with a finished paint job, but I attribute that to being too hard on myself. I think it's too glossy and not "camo" enough, but I really like it otherwise.

    I also threw the ATPIAL-C on it and put my DBAL on another rifle. The DBAL has IR illum and IR laser only, and that can easily be zeroed by throwing the PVS14 behind the T1 on the TM14 mount, but zeroing an IR laser with a day optic is a pain in the ass. It can be done, but if I did it I would keep it on 24/7 and I don't really want to keep an IR laser on my rifle all the time. The ATPIAL-C has a visible laser which will also me to quickly zero it to my day optic's 200 yard zero.

    Now if Krieger would hurry the freak up with my barrel I could actually shoot this thing...
