Did they have inventories of old lowers that they were making new weapons out of? I did verify the weapon left the factory in 1988, but it seems kind of late to be making slab side lowers. Any thoughts?

I have a early 89 slabside with A2 sights on the upper.

    IIRC they were Japanese TASCOs.

I should have said this earlier this year. I, too, handled my first M16A1 in 1978. I also have a Colt AR15 A2, but not an HBAR. Mine is from 1987.
