    Athletic pubalgia (Sports hernia)

Just got diagnosed, happened during a vigorous squat session.....

Surgery not covered under insurance and considered "elective", stupid BS

    12 week rehab after surgery.

Looks like I'm going to get fat and broke.

    FTMFL...

That sucks, but in the grand scheme of things 12 weeks is nadda in the decades of training you/we do, and you'll be able to do some light stuff fairly quickly. Easier said when you're not the one dealing with such things, but I can say BTDT for far worse and as my mother used to say "this too shall pass, so STFU kid"

Nope, considered elective since It could "eventually" heal on its own.

That's such complete bulls!t... So glad we have the ACA to make sure that insurance companies can't just screw policy holders.

I hope you can get that taken care of ASAP. Looking back, I wish I'd have taken care of some things right away, as they became permanent through putting it off. Sometimes sucking it up doesn't pay off.

True, it is just tough going from 6 days of heavy lifting a week to nothing overnight.

Body craves it, I guess I can get caught up on the trigger time I have been putting off...

Totally get that, but 6 days per week of heavy lifting likely a causative factor to developing it I'd guess. The body will not tollerate 6 days per week of heavy lifting for prolonged periods without injuries, OTS, etc

6 days seems like a lot but within the 90 days I started a different routine as I usually do to keep things confused. I do not currently go at the same muscle groups more than twice a week. Most are 4 days apart, legs almost 5.

I had an inguinal hernia about 13 years ago.

At that time I was lifting a lot like yourself. After the time off and once I got back into it I was actually significantly stronger than before.

Made me a big proponent of rest and time off from the weights. Like to take a week or 2 off every 8 weeks or so depending on how I feel.
