Does it gas you out when you shoot it suppressed?

Let me start off by saying how pleased I am with the Zenith MKE Z-5RS. I have nearly 1500 rounds through it so far and have not had any issues of any kind to date.

The optic mount included from Zenith is functional and it appears to be very solid. I tried it but ultimately I was not happy with it. I had two main issues. The first being that it placed the optic too high in order to get a proper cowitness with my RDS. The second issue was that I would smash my hand when charging the weapon. I am a lefty and I have to reach over the top with my right hand. I would cut my hand every time I locked the charging handle back. This isn't the mounts fault but mine for being a lefty.

I invested in a MFI ultra low profile mount from HK Parts.net. It arrived quickly from them and I mounted it right away. The MFI mount is much easier to install than the OEM mount as the little pads that contact the weapon are pinned to the mount. This makes installation a breeze. No more having to push the pads into the mount and then trying to get the screws and pads aligned properly. The OEM mount wasn't hard to install it was just a little tricky and one of those things when a 3rd hand and younger eyes would have helped. The MFI mount goes on in moments.

I took the MKE to an indoor range to zero the RDS at 25 yards. After a couple of adjustments I was in business.

The MFI mount allows my RDS to cowitness and is small enough that I no longer smash my hand on it when charging the weapon.

I am considering swapping the rear site drum for one of the castle types off of the K models. This might make getting a site picture even faster. Might not be worth the effort.

The MKE is very accurate and shooting tiny groups with it is child's play. While 25 yards is not a challenge by any means I was pleased with the groups I got using Federal 115gr bulk brass from Walmart.

I just wanted to bump the thread to thank everyone who suggested I try out a higher mount clear the front sight hood. I've been using low Aimpoint rings on a cheap riser and it works great.

The cheekweld isn't as good as with a cowitness view, but it works well enough for this weapon, and I didn't have to cut anything.

I'm going to get a different mount now at about the same height to replace this setup.

Zenith Z5P SBR + Griffin Revolution 9 Suppressor

    - Round nose feeds 100%

    - Flat nose won't feed

    - Federal HST 124gr +P got through 10 rounds before a failure

    - Looking for a defensive round that will feed reliably

Anyone else having similar issues? Is there a "break-in" period?

I have a Z5RS (full size MP5) and it runs 147gr HSTs in OEM HK mags.

Same boat here, 100% suppressed, FMJ works although early on I had some issues with flat nosed 147gr (AE) and a specific mag. Have since switched to Lawman 147gr and all good. I am at 600 rounds and Ranger RA9T/RA9B (147gr HPs) will malfunction. If I have any issues its the round going vertical on the slap from a fresh mag.

I have shot 15/15 in German 15rd mag but last time had issues with an MKE 30rd.

Every now and then I will scour the net and look at pictures of 147gr HPs to see if one looks closer to a rounder FMJ profile. GD2s? Hydrashok? HSTs?

It would be nice to find HPs that mine likes. A local guy said a smith made some "small feed ramps" and it made his 100%. Not sure if I want to run down that path just yet.

Found this thread with a bunch of good info on factory 9mm ammo. Specifically I was personally looking for HP ammo with a longer COAL that was subsonic.

Something that came up was Hornady Critical Duty 135gr Flex Lock +P. Its a longer HP at 1.1410" and I think comes in standard (subsonic) and +p (supersonic).

    http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-amm...d-dot-jhp/105/

I may buy 100 rounds, load up 3 mags with 28 rds each and see what happens. Leaves me 16 rds I can try in my 15rd mag.

EDIT: Ok, found some on sale (Standard Pressure, SKU 90235, comes in 50rd box). Will do what I stated above, 3x 28rd MKE 30rd mags and 1x 15rd in HK 15rd mag.

ANOTHER EDIT: Loaded 3 mags today (15 Oct) with 28 rounds of Lawman 147gr, which has a flat top similar to HP. 2x MKE 30rds and 1 Korean mag (with HK follower/Spring). My newer MKE choked on round 28 after firing 27 successfully. The Korean and other MKE were 100%. So that is 2 failures with that particular mag, which might mean another mag issue.

I really need to get some German 30s into the rotation. The good news is that I have 2 MKE 30s that have never malfunctioned. I will use those 2, plus the Korean when the 135gr Critical Duty shows up.

Since I was at a range I let a few folks shoot it. Its really a nice shooting PCC suppressed.

I am starting to think its a magazine issue for me. I have shot with 4 different Zenith mags and 2 have never malfunctioned.

Loaded 28 rounds (Zenith Mag #1) of Hornady Critical Duty, 135gr, standard pressure. 100% function. I did swap my extractor spring after the range visit when I had another stoppage. The extractor seemed to move a little so I decided to swap it out.

I suppose the Lawman 147gr is, for all intents, very similar to my Ranger RA9T. And the Hornady is about close to a FMJ as you can get.
