Hello all,
Do any of you know if it's possible to pin a BCM .625" gas block onto a 16" BCM ELW barrel? There's not a lot of steel there and I seem to remember reading that someone was told it wasn't possible. But, I'm not sure.
Thanks,
JRC

It's quite possible, but would require smaller diameter pin I would think.
Do you know how many 20" pencil barrels with the FSB pinned to a .625 journal are out there??
The M16A1 has the FSB pinned to a .625" gas block journal.
Its the original design.

I sent my BCM LW BFH barrel to Rainier Arms to have them pin on a .625 BCM gas block. After they had it, they called and told me that there wasn't enough meat to do it. I took there word for it and put the gas block on with the set screws. The barrel was already dimpled for them.

The problem could have been not enough meat on that particular model of gas block. Not so much the barrel.
OP here. Rainier Arms is one of my 'local' gun shops. I went to them to pin a SLR Sentry 7 on a 9" BCM 300 BLK barrel. They told me they couldn't do it. So, I started going to West Coast Armory (my other 'local' gun shop), they pinned that block and did great work. I took the ELW and gas block out to them Sunday and they said they could do it. I've lost faith in Rainier Arms' gunsmith. I still like the store, just not the smith.

Way to persevere.
