What's the Best Factory Ammo for BCM 16" 1:7 ELW?

Basically, what the title says. Just got an upper with the above stated barrel and, not being a reloader, was curious to see what works well for others. So far, all it's had is ~150rds of M193 to get the irons dialed in on paper, but I want to see what it's truly capable of.

Black Hills 77 grn SMK 5.56 has shot well in everything I have shot it out of. It's expensive though. CBC MK262 is also good if you can find it.

I have that barrel on my own AR and it loves IMI 77gr. Razor.

Anything with the 77 gr SMK. Black Hills being about the best. But as mentioned, expensive. You're zero could be pretty different between 55 gr poop, and a nice 77 though.

For cheaper options, Hornday Steel Match 55gr and the 75 gr Steel Match shoots even better.

All of the other Hornday stuff I have tried sucks.

The Swiss made Geco 55gr is great ammo for general range use. Both of my 14.5" 1/7s shoot it very well.

For accuracy, Black Hills 77gr SMK is the most consistently accurate load from lot to lot I've ever used.

I'd try some Federal GMM in both 69 and 77 out to 100 and 200 yards just to see what the barrel's capable of. IMHO FGMM is the benchmark, if the barrel doesn't shoot those well your barrel probably has issues. After that I'd start looking at Black Hills, IMI and CBC 69 and 77 grain loads and take full advantage of that 1X7 twist barrel.

If you want to go with lighter bullets, go pick up a box of Federal 55 grain Ballistic tips and shoot them for groups. While not a match bullet/load they're what I use to determine how well a light bullet will shoot in a fast twist barrel. That BT has a great BC for a 55 grain, shoots like a match bullet and is the shiznit for fragmentation.
