Stopping gas in the face blowback

    Hello all,

Since you've been so helpful up to this point, I have another question As I said in my previous post, I'm waiting on NFA approval to build a 9" 300Blk with a SilencerCo Omega on it.

This post is about getting gassed in the face and building the weapon to try and stop it. As I see it, there are 3 options:

    1. Install an adjustable gas block so that you can tune the weapon to send back just enough gas back to operate the BCG.
    2. Use something like theGemtech supressed bolt carrier and the PRI Gasbuster charging handle.
    3. Do both.

I'm not even sure that I'll have this problem, so, right now I'm leaning toward using an adjustable gas block. If that won't solve the problem, then I'll look at getting some specialist kit.

If those of you that have actually used a supressed SBR (instead of planning based on things they've read, like me ) have other ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks again for all of your help,

    JRC

This is one of the better tricks that has worked with me as well as an adjustable gas block or carrier.

Wow, that looks like a dead simple fix. Thanks VIP3R.

another cheap/easy "fix" that can be done along with the RTV trick is drilling a small hole in the CH. If you've never seen it, here is an example on ARFCOM with pics.

This is going on a 300BLK, correct?

You shouldn't have a blowback issue.

Using a Gemtech suppressed BCG may actually cause the gun to short stroke.

Is the rtf trick worth it on an unsuppressed rifle? I was thinking about doing that on one of mine.

8.5" 300blk with an omega. 0 gas in the face with a plain Jane gas block and standard charging handle.

The Gemtech suppressed BCG does not work at all in my blackout rifles.
