    Glock factory night sights

Just curious, but when did Glock start putting the clear plastic inserts in ther night sights? I'll be honest it's been years since I've had a "new" Glock in my hands and I won't miss cleaning the crap off the white circles in the sights.

I couldn't tell you exactly when, however my first set of Glock factory sights was in 2008 and they were the same as what you're describing.

My understanding is Glock manufactures the sights themselves (Housing if you will) and they use Mepro lamps. Originally I believe it was Trijicon lamps. This is going from memory so take it for what it's worth.

    EDITED: Corrected my date.

Any new Glock I get is getting Trijicon HDs. But this is interesting.

Can we get a picture of these new factory night sights? I have an old 17 with the factory Night sites that is probably getting a new set of ither Trijicon or Americglos before this time next year, but I am curious to see what glock is doing now, even if it is something I won't buy.

Those look like pretty standard Glock tritium sights. At least, that's what I've only ever seen Glock use in their steel tritium sights. I thought you were stating Glock had begun implementing the "cup" inlay on the rear tritium sight.

Weird, read it again. My brain was stuck on that for some reason.

Older versions of Glock night sights did not have the types of lamps you see in the photo above.

Older model NS had a standard ring of white paint and no protection over the lamps. They were also staked and not screwed as the newer ones are.

perhaps it is from switching to meprolight vs trijjicon??

That's what every set of my factory Glock night sights has ever looked like since my first Glock 19 in 2000. Never owned a set that appeared different. Only difference is that specific pistol had the front sight staked on and has since been replaced with the screw on front sight.
