    Venezuela Societal Collapse Thread

***Update 08/10/2017: I renamed the thread title to one more befitting since this has turned into a collection of information from Venezuela***

Insightful short read, a peek into the day to day life of a middle-class mother in a country with a collapsed economy.

My Venezuela Nightmare: A 30-Day Hunt for Food in a Starving Land
    http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-venezuela-diary/

I particularly found this entry of note, I like how they have a network of neighbors sharing crime info/alerts with one another.

July 1 It’s 7 p.m. I need to load my kids in the car and swing by the local bakery. I’m dreading it, to be honest. These streets are especially dangerous after dark, something I was acutely reminded of the day before when a woman was kidnapped just a few feet from the bakery. Police officers happened to be nearby and a shootout immediately erupted. A neighbor of mine, Franco, found himself trapped in the bakery with his 13-year-old son. They had to crawl through the kitchen to safety as the bullets flew. When it was over, the victim was free, one of the kidnappers was dead and three others were on the lam. I heard all about it that night on my Whatsapp neighborhood crime chat. (My friends and I are Whatsapp addicts; most importantly, it’s our main forum for sharing real-time tips on where hard-to-find items are available across the city.)

It's on Bloomberg. Will not click on that shit to feed the beast. I'd rather be ruled by King George than by Communists like Chavez, globalist elite scum like Bloomberg, and their ilk.

You guys are so full of shit your eyes are brown. This is all made up stories from the vast right wing conspiracy guys. All they want to do is sabotage the change we are planning for this country by spreading falsehoods. OK. Not really.

Thankfully during my time living under the wonders of socialism, violence wasn't a regular event. I do remember standing in line for.....wait for it... our rationed 1/2 liter of USED cooking oil. Also remember having to walk around town with Mom after school looking for whatever we could scrounge. No whatsap, BookFace to guide us. Had it not been for the black market barter system things would have been a lot worse.

May I ask, where do you hail from, sir?

Wow,,, talk about that special sauce flavor. I'll bet that was a treat.

Note to self: start hoarding non-stick cookware.

I sure hope fish wasn't fried in that oil previously. I got some hush puppies someone fried that way and they were horrible.

    What is exactly?

Zoo animals have been slaughtered in Venezuela for food, there are no stray dogs and cats running around anymore, people have eaten their pets.

Laws in a lawless country - now that there is funny! If you had gone to the Bloomberg link you would have seen this:

"Editor’s note: The looting, the blackouts, the mob lynchings, the hospitals with no supplies. Venezuela’s collapse into disarray is of a scale unseen in the Western Hemisphere in decades. In an effort to illustrate what day-to-day life is like on the ground, Bloomberg reporter Fabiola Zerpa documented her efforts to secure food for her middle-class family. This is a selection of entries from her month-long chronicle."
