    Folded chest seal

Can the vented Halo chest seal be folded long-term to fit in a narrow kit without damage to either the vent or the adhesive?

Would I be better off with something like a Hyfin that is already pretty narrow?

I did a search on "folded halo" but found nothing useful.

    Thanks.

I am a big fan of sliding them behind plates. Keeps them flat and protects them for one you need it. They are more delicate than TQs or gauze.

I have never used a Halo, but my experiences with the Hyfin is that it's perfectly usable when stored folded. The older Hyfins would slide around on blood, but the Hyfin Vent seems to have a much better adhesive and I never had a problem applying one. (all two times that happened)

Most seals will be pretty tolerant to folding for placement in kits. Avoid prolonged storage that way, esp with temp extremes or fluctuations. Rotate them periodically.

used a Halo that had been folded and vacuum packed in a kit for several months, than in and out of nasty jungle swamps, rivers and caves full of bat sh*t, W/O any issues.

Have had several Halo ( non vented ) folded and kept in kits in extreme temps for quite a long time - 1.5 yr plus. Just rotated a bunch of these out and used in training with no issues. Also had the same luck with the Sam vented seal

I remember reading someone posting that question to North American Rescue and they say that it's alright to fold their Hyfin seals without a noticeable decrease in effectiveness.

You should be good folding any of the newer chest seals. The Ascherman definitely had issues , can't say about the current version of the Bolin

The newer HyFins (vented, I believe) come folded in the packaging.

I keep two Ankle trauma kits, one has a halo and one had fox seals.

Both are folded all the time.

    Zero issues.

I used a halo seal about 6 months of EDC carry on duty during the summer months. Zero issues
