Mossberg 930: Was going to shorten barrel, decided to replace it... Then sold it!

    Hey all,

I'm looking for some opinions on options for cutting a 24" Mossberg 930 barrel down. What I know about shotguns could be written on the back of a postage stamp so I am looking for opinions on how you would go about it? Initially I wanted to go down to 21" to make it a bit handier to use. Take a look at the picture below:

21" puts me in the porting so it looks like my options are to cut to 22" and lose the ability to use a choke of some kind. Or go to 20" and have it rethreaded for chokes. Would you put the porting back in?

Or do I just say to hell with it and buy a new barrel? This shotgun doesn't have any serious purpose, just a fun gun with the occasional clays and steel.

Thanks in advance for your help.
