    Sorry, but I agree with rob_s.

    You people are way overthinking this - a sling for an AK is not best served using an HK hook or mash hook. A regular snaphook, as used on every other AK sling in existence, is the way to go.

    Was I supposed to say that out loud?

    That what I use on mine, it's butt simple and most AKs come with a sling with one on it. I just cut mine off and installed it on my BFG sling.

    I appreciate the 90 degree thing, I would prefer that as well, but I have had the snap hooks come off the rifle on me. Disconcerting.

    I have an H&K hook on mine now-and it too popped open on me.

    So I ordered one of Grant's mash hook ones (and got a padded sling with to try out as well) and we will see.

    I have had about every type of hook fail for me (less the smash hook). That is why use them. Cheap parts do not work well with us.

    Shihan, that's what I'm running on mine (the short version); works great.
