For the love of God, convert that into an XM8.

That have crossed my mind also, but I think I'm set on leaving I alone. My lower rail and HG arrived...just waiting on muzzle brake next week, and possibly ordering a black version thumbhole stock

If you can't have SBR's, check out Tommy Built's XM8 conversion. You don't need to cut and weld on a G36 rear stub and the XM8 kit has a better stock. I love this rifle and once you start seeing what's out there, you'll probably want to add things as you go.

Mine started out as a G36E conversion with a Latvian HK(KV) stock. The E model came with a 16.5" barrel and has a bayo lug.

Then decided to SBR it to a G36C. Had the SL8 barrel turned down because a C parts kit or a C front end is damn near impossible to find and extremely expensive... even for HK standards. The op-rod, piston, gas block and hand guard are C specific.

    Pictured with it's little cousin:

Lastly, after seeing how the French had their's set up... I had to see what the fuss was about. The 3x Hendsolt carry handle sight system takes a little getting used to but the dual optic would be absolutely perfect for this set up. The IDZ adjustable stock is fantastic.

How it sits now. Removed the carry handle and added a Hendsolt RSA.

Those photos are pure aswesomeness. Those are some great looking HK's, be proud of them!

Thank you! I'm pretty sure that anyone with a SL8 or G36x conversion gets odd stares while at the range and don't get me started with the AR15.com types that love quoting the MOA spread when hot... which they can't replicate(neither could the Latvians might I add). The OP is going to have some fun!

That's beautiful and the Troy rail is a great addition. You're going to love the Z43P! I have one too. Word of advice, try finding HK HK33/93 mags... I can't stand MKE mags.

I might have left the original handguards unless you actually plan on mounting a bunch of stuff. I'd keep the bipod, nothing wrong with a Harris. I'd have also left the bull barrel, I think the brake is too much and doesn't really provide you with anything. Get some decent glass and you are 95% there.

Am I the only that actually prefers the look of the original grey stocks on both these and the UMP/USC?

Yeah, I almost wish there was a way of doing the UMP in grey.

ChunkNorris...thanks, anything wrong with the z43 translucent mags in terms of function? I will be hunting down some original HK mags though.

Steyr Aug...mounting a bipod to the original plastic Hg is way too flimsy. after mounting the railed HG solid fit no slop at all. Bipod is a cheap knock off will be upgrading. Some of my friends disagree on the brake, but after shouting it they were actually surprised. I have an old SWFA SS scope, just need some higher rings.
