I am also definitely interested in a coil pinned gas block option for this barrel. Let me know how to specify it when ordering. Thanks

What do I need to know about "extended" length gas system? Is that a proprietary gas tube or just a regular mid-length? Thanks, Clint. I'm interested in a pinned GB.

I'm liking this barrel profile and the .625 gas block without the shoulder, but with the flange face for the muzzle attachment. Pinning the gas block should be minimal into the barrel with a conventional taper pin to the barrel to reduce some whip. A coiled spring pin may induce some more whip due to depth, but that's not needed, just normal taper pins.

    As always,

    Accuracy depends on many factors.

We expect accuracy to be very good even though these are not intended to be match style barrels.

Barrel life of course, depends on duty cycle.

Barrel life will be on par with other Melonited 4150 CrMoV barrels.

If you look for reviews of Faxxon Firearms nitrided barrels, those might give a ballpark idea on the accuracy capability of the barrel. Clint is having these made by Faxxon to his specs, and they are a bit different from their typical 5.56 offering, so keep that in mind as well.

General consensus is that nitride barrels run a scosche behind a good chrome lined barrel in lifespan, IF the firing schedules are equal. The way you use it, as Clint mentioned, HEAVILY determines barrel life regardless of material/construction. Constant mag dumps will fry just about any barrel way faster.

    Yeah
..I didnt word that correctly as accuracy and barrel life are user dependant. I knew better, so apologizes there.
The gas length is interesting. What was the impetus behind this length?

This comparison should help show where we ended up with on the design.

    From Left to Right:

14.5" Mid length, 16" BRT Extended length, 18.5" Rifle length, 16" Mid length

...that's a good bit longer than the 16 middie. Very interesting. As you know Clint, I'm just now getting my current barrel under control...now this. Lol...can't win...
