    IWI Galil ACE 7.62 NATO

I got one because... well... I'm... compelled...

The weight and balance are great. The mag release is ambi as well as the safety. The left side safety will not feel good if you're a lefty though. The folding stock is solid. The trigger is a heavy 7-8lbs, pretty crappy. Worst part of the gun.

It is a very soft recoiling .308. Surprisingly light. I threw a crappy Burris AR-332 3x scope on it and went to 100yrds.

    Here is Federal Fusion 150gr

Here is American Eagle 168 OTM

These next two are German Surplus MEN 147gr

I was cold and not exactly taking my time. With a better optic and warmer clothes/weather, I could get better groups. With a lighter trigger, I definitely would get better groups. I like this rifle a lot. AK system with accuracy! Milled reciever and not a boat anchor!

A version with an 18" barrel would be perfect.

Lot of AK's are accurate. Polish Beryl 96's are 1 MOA rifles. Many of the other 5.56 and 5.45 variants are 2 MOA rifles. The inaccurate rifles are generally the stamped receiver AKM's in 7.62x39 but they hold their own for what they are. Vepr's with their heavier receivers are generally fairly accurate followed by the 47 pattern milled guns due to the heavier barrel profile. The old Galil's weren't much to brag about but I remember 2 MOA was not out of the question so not surprised by the newer variants being the same. Overall the AK is a great rifle for what it was designed to do.

Glad to see that some people on here got one. I have one waiting for me at my FFL at home! Does anyone happen to know what the thread pitch is?

Yeah, was too early in the morning for me. I checked the manual and IWI's page. No info on the threading. I'll keep looking.
