20 year old daughter wants a handgun . Which one ?

20 year old daughter wants a handgun . Which one ? She is getting married next year and moving to Rhode Island which is not a gun friendly state . ( no concealed carry )

So for the house I was thinking a 9 mm . She is small 110 lbs. thinking Glock 19 , Shield , Or what else . If I take her to the store she will want a pink something so I don't even what to go there.

    I also suggested A 20 GA, pump . But she what's a pistol .
    Thanks

Find a range that rents guns and let her see what she shoots best.

Great advice right there. This is going to be her gun. Let her see what's comfortable for her, so she can pick it out.

I'd suggest your daughter select the handgun and not us. But, I'd recommend a full size 9mm as a start.

My wife's pistol of choice is an HK P30. We went through double digits number of pistols until she settled on the P30. She shoots it very well, is very comfortable with it. She is only 5'2".

As others have said take her out to try some. My wife started out wanting pink crap on her AR, it got her into ARs. She has now moved on to a completely FDE gun. If a pink gun makes her comfortable at first, I say don't knock it.

Only issue with that is rental guns have such a high round count, and parts replaced that the impulse of the gun is completely different from a stock gun.

1st handguns suck, try to sway her to a pcc or rifle.

2nd, she should get decent training how to shoot and hold a handgun, then go try a few out.

Find what works thenbuy and practice. Generally larger 9mm handguns provide a vast improvement in performance over small guns, even with people with small hands, once they learn to grip it properly.

Don't worry about recoil impulse, what can she get good groups with? Recoil management is grip and training, as long as the base is something she can work with.

I've found g19 to be very good for small women, much better than sub compacts although there are exceptions.

If carry is not an option, I'd look almost exclusively at full size or near fs guns.
