This is one of my favorite shots, taken during one of the most memorable trail trips I've done

This is my Jeep at Spider Lake up on the Rubicon Trail. We went with a group of high dollar custom CJ8s. The trail leader took one look at my rough around the edges Timber Wolf and expressed concerns that we wouldn't be able to keep up. He was inclined to not let us come along. I convinced him the Timber Wolf had already proved itself on other trails (without telling him I was doing last minute repairs to the air lines of the ARB lockers) and he reluctantly agreed to let us join the group.

I finished the repairs in the parking lot of the motel the night before hitting the trail head. I had many hours of trail experience with this Jeep and knew what it could do and what it couldn't, so on the first day heading up to Spider Lake, I picked my own lines instead of following the lines picked by everyone else. The lines I chose were actually easier because I didn't want to risk getting stuck. I wouldn't have had trouble going through the lines they chose through obstacles, but I didn't want to be That Guy.

At the end of the day, the trail leader pulled me over to the the firepit the whole crew was standing around and said "You are one crazy son of a bitch! You took all the wrong lines and you still- Didn't. Get. Stuck!"

I didn't say anything. I didn't know how to tell him that I took the easiest path.

I took this photo standing in water up to my chest, standing on a rock ledge. One step further and the depth dropped another twenty feet. The water in Spider Lake was amazingly clear and clean and it's temperature cool, not cold, perfect for swimming
The number of folks on my Full Of Shit list grows everyday

That's a great pic and a handsome dog.

I always had a difficult time getting the lighting right when photographing our black lab. All of my shots came out like a solid black blob with eyes.

The sun was behind me when taking this shot. He's my first real hunting dog. He and I have hunted and compete all over the east coast and as far west as Texas. He's 13 now and very long in the tooth. It's going to be a very tough time when he crosses over!
