I've been debating on the same. I've got a 260 Remington Bolt Gun I had custom built that shoots awesome. I'm curious as to know if 6.5 CM and 260 Rem are similar enough that the reports I'm hearing of guys running 18 and 20in barrels on gas guns and getting good results at 600+ yet are true. Just wondering how much velocity loss there is in that short of barrel as my barrel now is 24in.

What are you running velocity wise and what projectile currently?

I've got a GAP10 in 6mm Creedmoor and got 3300 rounds through it before I had to send it back for a new barrel. I've been very happy with it and enjoy shooting it more than my 6.5 CM semi-auto. Personally I think the 6mm Creedmoor was meant for the large semi-auto platform.

I had similar results with my GAP 6 Creed. To the OP 6 or 6.5MM and your favorite bullet in either, these cartridges were designed for a gas gun first. Leave the .260 for the bolt guns.

ETA: If you want to purchase commercial ammo 6.5 Creedmoor is the only option between the two that I'm aware of. 6 Creedmoor is a handload only option.

Not any more, Hornady just announce 6mm Creedmoor loaded ammo with a 108 gr bullet. Looks promising:

Good to see Hornady jumping in.

These guys also produce 6mm CM ammo.

Is this going to be ammo or a rifle?

Did everyone see the Ruger RPR in 6 Creedmoor? I know its not a semi auto...

Sorry, ammunition. Yup, Ruger dropped the .243 in favor of the 6mm Creedmoor.
