One question is how far are you planning to shoot?
I've got a 20MOA Nightforce rail on mine (same gun), but got that for two reasons. First was that I was planning on stretching that gun out to as far as a 308 can reasonably go and (2) a buddy had that for sale for cheap when I was looking for rings and a rail. If you're only looking at shooting shorter ranges, then I'd imagine a 0 or 20 would be fine.

As kind of a precision rifle novice, what does "20 MOA" refer to?

The scope base is angled with the idea of having he zero with the reticle as near to the upper extent of its travel as possible. This leaves the full amount of travel available for dialing for bullet drop at range via the turrets. 20MOA is an angular measurement that tells us how much the taper is on the base and how much more elevation travel we can expect.Originally Posted by Slater

Be sure to Google and read up on bedding scope mounts - it's really a must-do on 700 receivers.

The Nightforce mount and rings are really nice gear. They have a one piece mount (base and rings combined) that is worth looking at.

You can do it easily. "Bedding" the base just involves a shit ton of blue locktite underneath it where it meets the receiver. Then a wheeler engineering or similar torque wrench to take the screws to 15-18 inch pounds. Badger Ordnance provides the instructions on their website. Then just allow the locktite to set for a day or two. Wipe the excess locktite up with a paper towel before it sets obviously.
Frankly it's a good process for putting rails on most receivers too. 10/22's etc....
