    Hornady 225gr ELD load tested

Markm spun up some of these new 225 grain bullets with the BC .777. We normally run the 208 AMAX with much success. But our shooting buddy forced a 20 bullet donation forcing our hand.

Mark stuffed 73.5 grains of H1k under them with our famed RWS brass. The load produced just under 2,900 fps. The other crazy thing is it's POI was dead on the 208 load which was awesome.

We may bump to 74 grains to cheat Mother Nature a bit more. But as I see it, the huge gain will come by way of bucking the wind.

Anyone else play with these new bullets? I think the only big difference is the heavier weight and new tip is their touting story. Bullet design looks almost identical.

We stabbed an Elk after thanksgiving with Marks hand loading a 200 grain Accubond that has been my Go to hunting bullets. Next year I might have to try some of ACCUBONDS LR offering. I've ignored these new bullets as long as possible. I can no longer ignore progress.

These bullets thump the gongs quite a bit harder too. It was pretty impressive.

This is good info. I haven't started reloading for 300 Winchester Magnum yet, so the more good options, the better.

When did you guys jump into the 300win mag game?

Thought you were both pretty much on the 308 and 223 wagon?

We've been Win Maggin for a few years now. Pappa's got two tactical 300s, and a very nice Hunting 300 that's turned a few Elks into dinner.

We probably shoot as much 300 as 308. We love both but we don't reserve 300 for special occasions. We slam a shit load of 300WM, and are big fans.

You have to love 308 for what it is, and same for 300WM. We have not played with all the 6.5's yet. Maybe someday, but not on the radar as of yet.

Im not a hunter so the 6.5c is doing it for me out to 1200.

I would like to step to something a little bigger but im not a bolt gun guy and what a nice bolt rig costs I could load 10k rounds of 6.5c.

    Pappabear,

Mind posting up the specs for the rifle? Just curious what it takes to get these going around 2900 in WM.

    Thanks

It's a 25 inch Kreiger. Maybe 25.5 inch. Built off a Remmy action bla bla blaI think Mark stuffed 73.5 grains of H1000 under them. We ran out of that lot of H1000 and last Saturday we lost 40 fps on next lot. It was a goofy day but we are moving to 74 grains and see what happens.
