after the advise of some guys that have experimented with a variety of rail systems and optic set ups, the concensus was a t-1 mounted on ultimak rail. correct me if im wrong but i believe the t-1 has an integral mount that will secure it on the ultimak rail with a 1/3 cowitness....i have the ultimak mounted on my sbr (ak105ish clone). the T-1 is on its way from Grant. i cant tell you how it works for me yet - my shooting days are over for a while due to shoulder reconstruction. However, i have seen that combo used effectively at the LAV AK class and the feedback from users was very positive. you can search for the post about it or read the AAR from that class either here on theakforum.net

a little OT but: can you use a 556 can on 545 ? does it need an adapter for the threads?

The VLTOR adapter fits onto 24mm threads so it goes onto the FSB - it can be use on both 5.45 and 5.56mm AK's. One of the reasons I decided to make the HALO my first can.
