    .38/44 HD

I'm a fan of "N" frame S&W's; particularly the old, pre lock, pre MIM guns that exhibited decent fit 'n finish and old school craftsmanship.
The 4 and 5 screw S&W's were the tail end of an era.

This 4" HD is a favorite. Something about a fixed sight, 4" N frame appeals to me.

This mod 58 was a pawn shop rescue.
Had to replace the bent extractor rod and hammer that had been cobbled. The finish was roached so I bead blasted and sent it for a Melonite finish.
This sees duty as a "ranch gun".

I'm a fan of "N" frame Smiths also. I've picked up a 1973 Mod. 29 44 mag. and a 1978 Mod. 57 41 mag. within the last two years. I had an 8 3/4 inch Model 29 during the early 70's and then made the mistake of trading it in on a Colt Gold Cup which eventually had to go to Wilson's to correct accuracy issues. Nice looking .38/44 HD you have and the 58 to sharp too.

    Thank you D.

I'll confess to "half a gun safe" of old S&W and a few Colt revolvers.

I have one of each barrel length produced in 3 or 4/5 screw mod 27's.

    The mod 29's are classics.
Looked a good while for a 4" no dash mod 29.

Fine N-frames. They are my favorite all-around handguns, especially those with the slender barrels. I've got "a few" in the safe.

    Nice grips!

    Looks like some nice Smiths.
I had a good shooter grade 38/44 for awhile but ended-up selling it. My only N frame left is a 22-4. Much like your HD, but in .45acp (and the dreaded lock I removed). Probably will do anything I need it to (.45acp, .45 AR, and .45 Super).

Very nice classic piece, deserving of the holster outfit.

That's a beautiful revolver, I am glad it found an appreciative home.

You wouldn't happen to know nyeti on the Smith and Wesson forums, would you? He's a friend, and has a collection you would enjoy.

    Congrats on two beautiful guns.

The model 58 looks like an M&P on steroids...love that look.

That's what I always thought too.
    A big ass mod 10 M&P in .41 cal.
    Guess that was the plan.
Too bad it was a flop with the "troops".

    I also have a mod 520 N frame.
    It's a 4", fixed sight, .357.
Reminds me of a large mod 10 or mod 58.
There were 3,000+- produced for the NY State Police.
They turned down the order in favor of the then, brand new "L" frame.
