    I am not sure why either. Some M1A gunsmiths won't work on a Norinco receiver, because they require a bit more work to fit U.S. sourced parts and the receiver steel is harder on their tooling.

    I've heard the same about Norinco 1911's. Good steel frame/slide

    Maybe something to do with the cast frames ? I know that Colt, S&W and Springer are forged, but the filipino stuff is cast. No idea what Kimber, Ruger, tore-ass or the others are using though.

    Bet they would if profits took a nose dive. They'd probably work on squirt guns if need be.

    Either Kryptonite or forged 5100 series chromoly steel. Gun builders dream except for labor and tool (bits) costs. I don't put much worry time in to a frame.

    Clark's disclaimer for Philippine 1911s may relate to corresponding holes for hammer and sear pins not lining up precisely.

    Depending on brand name, some Philippine guns have a cast frame and barstock slide, while others have both cast frame and slide. Regardless, it doesn't seem to hurt their functionality.
