    What caliber is this?

We have 3 'clips' of this at work, and can't figure out what it is. It has what looks like German markings on it. One pic is a round next to a 7.62x51mm NATO round. I figure Templar or LAV will know what this is.

    Austro-Hungarian 8x56mmR.

Used in Steyr M95 straight pull rifles and carbines, that ammo was made after the Anschluss of 1938, when Germany and Austria were combined.

    Gotm4,

Believe it or not I found some of this here in Iraq and it is hiding in the armory. I am pretty sure that the package ( I have the complete box) said 8MM Mauser on it. The headstamp markings are identical and is the same year 38. I'll see if I can research it more. Unfortunately I have already turned over the keys to the castle.
