Pretty happy with it thus far and will get to shoot it in the morning.

Very nice op, I had one of those years ago and it made me look good! Very smooth shooting 1911 and those grips look good too!

I just bought a M45A1 from Colt.... I LOVE IT. It's amazing, I found my LNIB for 1200. I recommend it. Make sure it's the ion bond version and not the first production run colt did. Oh and it's what the marines are using.

For some reason I keep looking at the Colts, but wave been warming up to the Springfield too. None seem to have all the features I like. It will likely be 3-4 months before I have the cash save up, so a lot of time for research.
Take a look at the DW guardian. Beautiful. Smooth as silk too.

Thank you sir. The grips do work nicely. It's a pretty accurate shooter and has been flawless in the limited rounds I have shot. I'm enjoying it so far.

Very nice. I came very close to buying a Colt but it was a stainless version. I'm not a bling kinda guy, lol.

Pretty sure the unit that did use these are now carrying Glock 19s. Still, a capable and desirable weapon.

I recently bought a Colt 70 Series Competition Stainless 45; it is great bang for the buck! Fit and finish are outstanding - reliable and accurate production pistol. If you prefer blued guns, check out the new Blued Colt Competition 70 Series; the slide flats are now polished. Look much better.
I really like the Colt WC guns: I have the WC Government. I just had Colt Custom Shop install the EGW Ambidextrous Safety and Harrison Short Trigger; it is outstanding! Springfield Range Officer Elite guns are tough; need to handle lightweight commander model.
Have not held a Dan Wesson 1911 yet, but hear great things about them.
Agree that 1911 Addicts site is outstanding.

Under $1400 you can find plenty of them. A little bit of research found me this for you -

I previously owned a stainless Valor and sold it, but had to own another. Based on your original budget, I'm guessing the blued Valor was on the high side? I haven't looked, but does DW offer the drop-in magwell blued? I added one to my Spedialist. It's functional, but not a smooth blended fit. Either way, that's an excellent 1911 you purchased. Congrats and enjoy it in good health!!
