i'm leaning towards the ruger for my first, and probably only, 1911. and now they've got it in friggin 10mm...
I honestly didnt know about any of their qc issues... i bought the sig scorpion carry, in Nov 15, and love it and rave about it all the time... the first 100 rounds or so the gun was a bit tight, but still didnt have any issues...and after that it is smooth like butter and still have yet to have any issues

Figured I'd ask a few questions here rather than start a new thread. Currently own zero 1911's and feel like I need to own at least one. As a fan of Sig's I kind of gravitated to the Nitron Rail. The other under consideration is a Colt Rail gun. Anyone have any comments on buying a Remington base R1 then spending money to upgrade and build it as I go?
No experience with Sigs or Remington but I will likely never buy another Remington product again. If their most basic shotgun, that has been in production for decades, is faulty from the factory, then **** them. I like my rail gun a lot but Springfield's new Range Officer Elite is a hell of a lot of gun for the money.

I will not give freedom group money on principle either.
For budget gun to build, probably stick with Springfield over Remington. They are well regarded and have options in all price ranges.

I think they're both pretty even across the board, there are a few subjective differences but the CCU has front strap checking which is a big plus over the RO Elite, but I think it'll come out to a few hundred more. I'd go with whichever you can get a better deal on, if it's your first 1911. The CCU has a thicker frame that isn't compatible with all 1911 holsters which is a downside for me since I already have one and several holsters for it.

So wandered into a local store today to check a few 1911's and get a feel for what's what. Spotted this used Sig Natron Rail and it followed me home. Apparently the trigger and mainspring was upgraded by the previous owner. At least according to the owner of the store. About 770 out the door with box and two mag. Pretty happy with it thus far and will get to shoot it in the morning.
