They should have a record of the Form 3 plus what the manufacturer reports. It could have been missing a digit or other indicator that it was wrong.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I had the ssme thing hsppen to me in Dec.
I contacted my LGS about it.
They sent the correction and it was approved a week and a half later.

You guys were right. It was kicked back on 1/12/2017 my dealer had put an 'H' instead of a 'W' on the serial number. He corrected it and sent back in. Stamp was issued 1/25/2017.

    Total time 4/30/2016 to 1/25/2017.

    Examiner was CSR.

Well you've done the hardest part, your first NFA transfer. Or at least I'm assuming that is the case.

The first time the forms are intimidating, the process seems daunting and it really feels like everyone from your SOT to NFA branch is somehow trying to screw with you.

Have they lost my check? Did they transfer to my trust correctly? Do they even have my Form 4? A correction letter? WTF is that? What ahole screwed up everything?

Everyone goes through it the first time. But having done it once, you quickly acquire a "ain't skeered" attitude and you basically do a copy / paste of the approved form 4 for your next transfer. You have a better understanding of process times so as a result you "ain't worried none." By the time you are on your 5th purchase you usually just download the pdf from the ATF website and give it to your SOT with all your information completely filled out so he can just sign it for you. That way YOU know YOU filled out everything correctly.

And if you get to 10 NFA items your SOT will call you to tell you your SBR, suppressor or whatever is back and ready to be picked up and you honestly have to spend a couple minutes trying to remember exactly what it is you were waiting on anyhow.

I have a couple advanced machine gun collectors who honestly second guessed if I had the right person because they didn't remember buying another machine gun and were 80% certain I had confused them with somebody else. But once they show up and see the paperwork, then it's an "Oh yeah, I remember buying this one now..."

It's kind of funny watching the evolution of an NFA buyer, it literally is like Groundhog Day for nearly every single one of them. Best rule of thumb is "if they cashed your check, you are good to go."
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

..because they have a recent form 3 transfer with a serial number on it, would be one way.
