I built one within the last year or so. Frankengun: 80% lower, 20" chrome lined 1:7 twist A1 profile barrel (from McKay Enterprises, supposedly Colt overruns for an IDF contract, "C" marked), PRI rifle-length carbon fiber FF tube. Mil-spec BCG with the bolt hard chromed by Metaloy. Bought a TA-33R ACOG for it, which is a .308 reticle but this will be a 77gr-only weapon (which happens to match pretty closely with the .308 BDC reticle). Geissele SD-C trigger. A5 buffer system with an A5H2 weight buffer.

Dang sounds awesome. I'm wanting to put a med weight barrel on my dpms tac 16 flat top. That little thing is heavy. If it's gonna be that heavy it's gonna be longer.

Don't buy a non-chromed (or at least nitrided) barrel if it isn't a true match-grade barrel.

    To all concerned.

The custom build area is a place to show off/discuss and ask questions and get feedback about your completed custom build (this means a completed AR that is functional and already completed). If you are going to post pictures of your build, please post a complete picture not just your parts, partial lowers, etc....

Also, buying an upper separate and then a lower and throwing them together does not constitute a custom build. It would be nice if you took time to explain how you came to your decision and explain your set up. Thanks.

If you do not follow the guidelines and your post disappears it's probably because it was moved to the trash or deleted.
