    Issues with cycling

I have a 300 AAC Pistol with a 7.5" barrel. I have tried Subsonic and supersonic ammo. I'm having issues with cycling. At first I thought it was a magazine issue. I tried several brands of magazines, and that is not the problem.

I did notice that the bolt in the bolt carrier is super stiff. I tried oiling it and it is still stiff. It is not as smooth as my other ARs. It doesn't freely move.

The buffer spring feels very stiff also.

Should I tried changing the gas rings and the Buffer spring on this system? Or should I just cut a coil off of the pre-existing buffer spring?

    I'd appreciate the help.

In general, one should not modify parts if one does not understand the problem.

It sounds like some investigating is required.

Look at the obvious things first, like swapping the BCG and then the spring.

This can be done in the shop.

When everything feels normal, go to the range and start with firing tests.

It turned out that the barrel was not properly torqued, and the gas block was improperly positioned. I rebuilt the upper, and it runs perfectly.
