The flashlight projects a nice wide beam that allows you to identify objects/ people at a far distance. I forgot the run time, but it has never gone "dead" on me. Depending on what I run into at work I might recharge it once or twice a week. For a high use light you certainly can recharge it everyday. To recharge I either use my phone charger plugged into the wall or a 12v vehicle charger. For an immediate alternative to recharging using CR123's, a 18650's, or the standard li-on batteries are great. I hope I answered your question.
